If you’ve stumbled upon this blog then you might be thinking who the heck is Abi and why should I even care? Well, wonder no more… for it is I, Abi, and you probably shouldn’t care but I’m hoping I wrote that with enough flourish that you’ll just keep reading anyway.
I wish I could say that I am an extremely successful writer/editor who has had work published everywhere. Alas, that would be a lie. I have no published work whatsoever (whoops). I also wish I could say that all of that doesn’t matter because I am a blogging genius who has been working on this site for years. The truth is that by blogging I mean getting stressed out about themes and fonts. You read that right. Fonts. Of all the things in the world that I could choose to get hung up on I choose fonts.
What I can say is that I’m here because I want to be a writer and I’ve got a lot to say about it. I’ve wanted to be a writer since I was a little girl who idolised Jaqueline Wilson and spent hours writing stories that I never finished. This might be a tale as old as time but it’s my tale and I intend to tell it in my own way.
My childhood penchant for reading and writing did not wane and this year I completed my BA (Hons) English Studies degree at the University of Stirling. As it turns out, I like higher education so much that I’ve decided to stick around and pursue an MLitt in Creative Writing. If you’re the praying type then please spare a thought for my bank balance and also my future career prospects.
The thing with this blog is that I’m not going to tell you what you should be doing or why you should do it. If you’re looking for sensible advice I advise you to clear off sharpish because you won’t find it here. I intend Gabiabi to be a chronicle of my journey as a writer. Writing can be lonely sometimes and I would be eternally grateful for the company.
